Yoga is my support system

“Allow your yoga practice and your yoga mat to be your support system”. My yoga teacher once said that during my yoga class and it totally resonated with me and really, such a simple phrase can really inspire your yoga practice even more.

When you need to find a little inspiration, a shoulder to cry on, or someone to share a thought with. Your mat is always there.

Your yoga practice and your mat can facilitate a deeper awareness of oneself, and to the connection to your higher self.

Let your mat support you during your life journey.

How can you invoke this support system to an even deeper level in your yoga practice?

By practicing a few simple actions your mat will truly begin to give back to you what you put into it.

Try these few actions [maybe you already are]….

Give your mat the love it deserves by thanking it, expressing gratitude for every yoga practice. What you put into the universe, it will reciprocally be returned to you. The more gratitude that radiates from your being, the more gratitude will be returned to you. We all have had those days we get on our mats and maybe just don’t feel so good, but can you still express gratitude for the opportunity that presents itself before you. My yoga teacher once said to me that “yoga isn’t always pretty, often a lot of stuff is going to come up to the surface, the nasty stuff often reveals itself”. So how much gratitude can you give for all that? When energies, feelings and emotions are revealed, it is an opportunity for personal growth in some way.

Allow your mat to be honored in the sense of the same way you feel and honor about your best friend. Your mat is always there for you. I enjoy going to new places and new yoga studios where I don’t know anyone and that can also feel very lonely. But you are never really alone are you? Your divine, infinite love is always with you inside and outside of you. You can bring that love with you everywhere you go. So, when that friend isn’t available, your mat is there for you!

Your mat is the most divine reflection of you, what do you see within yourself when you practice your yoga? Like looking in the mirror of yourself your mat is reflection of what is going on inside of you. So, I ask you to look inside you and be inspired, be loving to yourself, be compassionate and mostly be true to yourself.

BEing in the Flow

BEing in the Flow of life.

Are you finding yourself challenged by life, stressed or just general unhappiness? What if you there are some simple solutions that could help you?

I have found that when I practice mindfulness and BEing more present, the flow of life just comes. I am not overwhelmed by stresses when they arrive, and I am better able to handle what gets thrown at me.

A great article I recently read from We Work….gave some really helpful tips on Being more Productive in life…You can read it here.

Here are a few simple tools you can also use to BE in the Flow of life:

Bring more questions into your daily dialogue.

When you are stressed, not present, try asking yourself some simple grounding questions such as: What is really important here? Is this something even worth stressing over? What other reaction can I choose here? By asking questions, you can easily shift the energy of any situation and automatically create the opportunity for a different outcome.

Stop, pause & Breathe.

Stressed, not flowing or feeling like tension is building in your body. No matter where you are, or what you are doing, you can stop, pause and take a deep breath. It is one of the most powerful mindfulness tools out there. By focusing on your breathing, it will automatically relax your nervous system and send a message to your brain that everything is going to be okay. Maybe it will take a few breaths, focusing on lengthening each exhale and asking the breath to penetrate your body.

Am I Being true?

Are you being truthful to yourself? Are you living your truth, what makes your heart shine, or are you living based on someone else’s expectations? When you are listening to your inner knowing, your truth… you will BE in the flow of life. By living your life in your true alignment, you will BE in the natural & abundant flow of life.

Move your body.

Find what feels good for you and your body. I don’t like to use the word exercise, but find what you enjoy. Maybe a run, dancing, yoga, zumba or lifting weights feels good, but make a commitment to do something that is fun and you enjoy. You will naturally be releasing stored tension and creating a flow of energy in your body that will be uplifting to your flow in life.

BEing Grateful.

Practicing gratitude for all that shows up in your life, whether it be the good, bad or ugly. Notice what you are creating in your life and be grateful for all the wonderful and not wonderful moments as they are the universe sending messages to you. Remember the universe is on your side and has your best interest in mind!

BE Inspired!

Ask yourself…“What truly makes me happy?” Are you doing something special for you every day? It is the small things that can lead to the big things that will naturally make your heart shine and keep you in the beautiful flow of life.

“Do small things with great love.” ~Mother Teresa
